AISECT University was founded in Hazaribagh, India, on May 16, 2016. It received recognition from the University Grants Commission (UGC), New Delhi, and is registered under Section 2(f) of the UGC Act, 1956. The university's establishment was made possible after Her Excellency, the Governor of Jharkhand, assented to the State Universities Act, which aimed to facilitate the creation and incorporation of universities for teaching and research in Jharkhand. The Visitor of AISECT University of Jharkhand, Her Excellency Smt. Draupadi Murmu, appointed Shri Santosh Choubey, a distinguished academic administrator, as its first Chancellor. Subsequently, the Chancellor appointed Dr. R. N. Yadav, a renowned scientist and administrator, as the university's first Vice Chancellor.
